Students in second grade read The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything and arranged a sound story to go with it. They worked with a partner to find the best instrument match for each character in the book. After we shared our ideas with another group, we planned a class performance. It turned out great!
Adding music the literature helps students with comprehension and listening skills. They have to listen extra closely so they don't miss their special part! Composing and arranging allows students to create something unique and original and really take ownership of their music education!
